چکیده

A study of the possibilities of pyrolysis for recovering wastes of the rope’s industry has been carried out. The pyrolysis of this lignocellulosic residue started at 250 oC, with the main region of decomposition occurring at temperatures between 300 and 350 oC. As the reaction temperature increased, the yields of pyrolyzed gas and oil increased, yielding 22 wt.% of a carbonaceous residue, 50 wt.% tars and a gas fraction at 800 oC. The chemical composition and textural characterization of the chars obtained at various temperatures confirmed that even if most decomposition occurs at 400 oC, there are some pyrolytic reactions still going on above 550 oC. The different pyrolysis fractions were analyzed by GC-MS; the produced oil was rich in hydrocarbons and alcohols. On the other hand, the gas fraction is mainly composed of CO2, CO and CH4. Finally, the carbonaceous solid residue (char) displayed porous features, with a more developed porous structure as the pyrolysis temperature increased

Characterization of the Products Obtained in Coal Pyrolysis: A Case study of Some Pakistani Coals

Thermal decomposition of two coal samples obtained from Top Seam Sibi (TSS) and Sore Range Quetta (SRQ) coal fields in their raw and acid washed forms were carried out in an open type tubular pyrolyzer coupled to a gas chromatograph with FID. Elemental analyses were carried out with Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive X-rays (SEM-EDX) analyzer. Effect of inherent mineral contents...

Catalytic Pyrolysis of Waste Tyre Rubber into Hydrocarbons Via Base Catalysts

The waste tyres represent a source of energy and valuable hydrocarbon products. Waste tyres were pyrolysed catalytically in a batch reactor under atmospheric pressure. The effects of basic catalysts (MgO and CaCO3) were studied on the pyrolysis products. The distribution ratio of gas, liquid and char with MgO and CaCO3 were 24.4:39.8:35.8 wt % and 32.5:32.2:35.2 wt % r...

Purification and Fractionation of Carbon Dots using pH-controlled Cloud Point Extraction Technique

In this work, we describe a simple, green and general procedure for the purification and fractionation of carbon dots (CDs). CDs coated with oxygen-containing functional groups were synthesized by thermal pyrolysis of citric acid. The product of the reaction was first Purified and then fractionated into two distinct kinds of CDs (f4 and f1) using pH-controlled cloud point extraction (CPE) techn...

Geochemical Characterization of Kazhdumi Source Rock in the Khaviz Oil Field, Southwest of Iran, Using Rock-Eval Pyrolysis

The Khaviz oil field located in Dezful embayment is one of Iran’s southwest oil fields. In this study, a total of 28 cutting samples from Kazhdumi formation (well No. KZ1, Khaviz oil field) were subject to geochemical investigation using Rock-Eval pyrolysis for the first time. The results of pyrolysis indicated that Kazhdumi source rock has significant hydrocarbon production potentiality and al...

Recovery of Hydrocarbon Liquid from Waste High Density Polyethylene by Thermal Pyrolysis

Thermal degradation of waste plastics in an inert atmosphere has been regarded as a productive method, because this process can convert waste plastics into hydrocarbons that can be used either as fuels or as a source of chemicals. In this work, waste high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic was chosen as the material for pyrolysis. A simple pyrolysis reactor system has been used to pyrolyse was...
